Lavender Hollow Farm

Yoswirl - Fremont

My prayer for a frozen yogurt shop in our area is finally answered. Although it is not the Cefiore that I was hoping for, I'm still happy that we get a self-serve yogurt shop in time for the summer.

Yoswirl had just opened their door last week in Pacific Commons beside the other Asian restaurants. Me and my friend went there last Friday night despite the breezing cold weather. Being the first time going to a self-serve yogurt shop, I was amazed at the varieties of flavors and toppings they offer. We got to choose from 10 flavors of yogurt, 40 dry toppings, and 10 fruit toppings. The shop owner gave us some little sample cups for tasting and we finally decided to get blueberry, peach, and passion fruit yogurt with several fruit toppings. I really like the blueberry and peach yogurt, and I already thinking about which flavors to try for my next visit.

Milestone

I finally pumped $4/gallon gas for the first time today. :(

0ther than following those gas-saving strategies to obtain higher fuel efficiency, I think I should purchase gas in the morning rather than late in the afternoon (here is why).

This doesn't apply to me, but if your car doesn't have a gas cap lock, you should go get a locking fuel cap to fend off the gasoline thieves.

Six Feet Under

I brought my friends from out-of-town to the Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland this past Sunday. The architect of this cemetery is the same one who designed New York's Central Park.

Many famous and wealthy people chose this cemetery as their final resting place. We fetched the map from the cemetery office which shows the location of their graves. To be honest, I only know three out of the forty-seven persons mentioned on the map. Two of them are the namesakes of a chocolate company and a coffee company respectively and the other one is a woman whom I admire. She is the first female architect in our state who designed the magnificent Hearst Castle in San Simone, CA and a lot of other notable buildings. However, we couldn't locate her grave and I accidentally stepped on a tombstone during the search. >.<

According to Wikipedia, Elizabeth Short the Black Dahlia is also buried in Mountain View Cemetery. I wish I had known that before the visit.

剛好從 SFgate.com 看到這篇文章

Uvas Canyon County Park

(L)Granuja Falls (R) Upper Falls

(L) Basin Falls (R) Black Rock Falls

Lost in L.A.

Museums on BofA 2008

Museums on Us (courtesy of Bank of America) is back again, but there are some changes to the program this year. Instead of free admission for the entire month of May, Bank of America is extending the promotion to first weekend of every month until April 2009. There are less participating institutions in the Bay Area compared to last year and the choices are not as good. In addition, the fine print stated "free admission limited to cardholder at participating institutions", so they are no longer paying for the non-customers this year. Shall we blame it on the subprime mortgage?

Participating institutions in Bay Area

- Museum of The African Diaspora
- Yerba Buena Center for the Arts
- de Young Museum
- San Jose Museum of Art
- Tech Museum of Innovation
